Specs at a Glance
After much anticipation, the redesigned and refreshed Toyota Highlander is here. In 2020, the Highlander gets a complete design change, inside and out. Now, the Toyota Highlander comes equipped with several features that it didn't get before. This includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The exterior gets a fresh new appearance that makes it safer and more modern-looking than in years past.
The 2020 Highlander also comes with two different seating arrangements. For the lower trim levels, an eight-seat configuration with bench-style seats is standard with select trims. Others have a seating capacity for seven occupants with captain's chairs in the back row. A variety of paint colors makes all trims equally appealing. Below, you can see for yourself how the two trims compare when broken down into distinct categories.
Performance
The 2020 Toyota Highlander excels in the area of performance, regardless of the trim level that you choose. All five trims are powered by the same engine, which is a 3.5L with six cylinders. This engine produces up to 295 HP and just over 260 LB-FT of torque. You'll also get the same transmission on all trims, which is an eight-speed automatic. However, you do get a choice of drivetrain with the 2020 Highlander. You have the option of either front-wheel drive, which is standard, or all-wheel drive, which is available. The "right" choice for you ultimately depends on your driving needs and preferences. The Highlander in all-wheel drive provides optimal traction and control in adverse conditions.
Appearance
The L and the XLE both have some similarities and differences when it comes to appearance. All five trims of the 2020 Highlander have a striking exterior formed by your choice of exceptional paint color and bold LED headlights, even on the base trim. While you can get wheels sized up to 20 inches in the 2020 Highlander, both the L and the XLE have wheels that are 18 inches in size. The base trim has wheels with an alloy finish, while the higher-end trim gets wheels with a machine alloy finish instead. You will also get more stylish and functional features with the XLE, including roof rails, a hands-free liftgate, and a sunroof. The XLE also comes with its own unique chrome-accented badge. In the back, both trims have LED stop lights for optimal safety and visibility.
Features
The 2020 Toyota Highlander comes with many standard features, starting with the base trim. At a minimum, you will get a highly visible eight-inch infotainment display screen that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You'll get a slightly larger infotainment display screen when you move up to the XLE.
The base trim features seating capacity for eight people, while the XLE offers seating for seven with captain's chairs in the second row. The base trim gets cloth seats, while simulated leather upholstery is standard in the XLE. Three-zone climate control is standard in both vehicles. The base trim also comes with Toyota's sophisticated Safety Sense 2.0 package.
With a bold new look this year, the 2020 Toyota Highlander is virtually impossible to resist. Contact us to learn more and arrange a test drive for your preferred trim.
