What's New For the 2020 RAV4

The new 2020 Toyota RAV4 has plenty of surprises up its sleeve, but none have captured so much attention as the fact that the RAV4 is going off-road in 2020. A TRD off-road trim promises to be one of the most exciting trims of the season, a brand new adventure for the RAV4 to explore. It's going to be part family SUV, part off-road machine. What an exciting combination! What's new for the rest of the RAV4 lineup in 2020? Read on to find out.

2020 RAV4 Trims & Features

Right now, we've got limited information about the new RAV4's trims, but we know for sure there will be an Adventure trim and a TRD off-road trim. Imagine a RAV4 with a ground clearance of only 8.6 inches (Adventure trim). That beats out many Jeep off-roading award winners. Add in multi-terrain traction control and all-wheel drive, and the Adventure certainly lives up to its name, with the ability to go where no other RAV4 has been able to go before.

Falken off-road tires, to the tune of 18" alloy wheels, will give the TRD Off-road a huskier look. The base model LE features beautiful exterior colors like Blizzard Pearl, Blue Flame, and Lunar Rock, a name lineup that reveals Toyota's sense of purpose in giving the RAV4 an adventurous demeanor in 2020. Touchscreen dash announcement specs haven't been announced yet, but we'll keep you up to date on all the latest features as the news rolls in. For now, the trim lineup looks like this: LE, XLE, Adventure, Limited, and TRD Off-Road.

Most of these trims come in all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, depending on your needs.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Horsepower

The standard RAV4 LE features a 2.5-liter I-4 203 horsepower engine. It's the same powertrain you'll get on all the trims of the RAV4, but don't think there's no difference in higher trims in terms of mechanical prowess. Because of upgraded tires, suspension systems, and design, you'll get a far better performance out of an Adventure or TRD Off-road than your lower trims. Stick with these two trims if you want to get remarkable off-road performance.

2020 RAV4 Safety

You can expect Toyota to keep up with all major competitors and give you terrific seat belt systems, solid construction, and features like Electronic stability, Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0 forward collision mitigation, and Traction control. These are the features that are already confirmed by Toyota. Still, it's not clear if the RAV4 will get Safety Sense 2.0 on every single trim or if it will be optional. We're certainly hoping that Toyota includes Safety Sense 2.0 as at least an option, as it has great features like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
