Ā Ā More automakers are entering the EV market, which is bringing customers innovations in both electric vehicles and charging equipment. Toyota and Lexus have announced a new partnership with Treehouse, which is a software-based operating system for charging installations, to make life easier and more convenient for EV and hybrid customers.
What is Treehouse?
Treehouse is a unique operating system for EVs and hybrids that makes it easier for customers to purchase and install a home Level 2 charging system. Treehouse provides a holistic home charging experience for Toyota and Lexus customers that ranges from project scope to permitting and installation. Better yet, while most home construction projects require repeat visits by contractors and affiliated workers, Treehouse offers a one-time visit for Toyota and Lexus customers to receive a quote and then proceed with the project if the customer approves. Treehouse provides turnkey project management for additional peace of mind so that customers donāt have to face uncertainty as to who will be working on their property during the course of the charging system installation. Hybrid and EV owners of Lexus and Toyota vehicles can rest assured that Treehouse works exclusively with licensed electricians who will assess the customerās needs, provide electrical system upgrades if needed, and handle EV charging system installations. Every installation is designed to meet the industryās highest standards for safety and quality.
Home Charging Options
Charging capabilities vary based on the model year of the Toyota or Lexus that customers own. All new Toyota and Lexus EV and hybrid vehicles made in 2026 come with a standard 120V/240V AC charger for residential use. This charging system enables Level 1 up to Level 2 charging at home. These systems have a maximum power output of 7.7 kW, which enables nearly a full charge overnight. Location also factors into the equation. California, for instance, and several other states require all BEVs to be sold with a dual-voltage charging cable. Toyota has included this technology in its BEVs since 2024. Starting in 2026, it is also including a dual-voltage charging cable with its PHEVs. Toyota has extended this technology to all qualifying vehicles nationwide for customer convenience.
Benefits For All
The now-standard inclusion of a Level 2 charger with any EV or hybrid Lexus or Toyota gives customers multiple advantages. The dual-voltage charging cable is compatible with a 240V outlet installed by Treehouse, which allows customers to easily charge their cars at home. The cable is also accompanied by a warranty.
