What's New For the 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

Toyota's slogan for the 2020 4Runner is "Keep it Wild." While it's true that the latest 4Runner still has some of the best off-road capabilities on the market, it also gets a refreshed interior for the 2020 model year to keep passengers happy. The 2020 4Runner has historically held its own for power and durability. Now, it is also a top choice for anyone seeking a safe and well-equipped vehicle.

Safety is prioritized for the 4Runner this year, which now comes standard with the suite of advanced driver safety aids included in the Toyota Safety Sense package. The 2020 4Runner also gets a refreshed infotainment system that supports app connectivity, Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. USB charging capabilities are added in the back row. Along with leaving plenty of room for passengers, all three trims feature a spacious and versatile cargo area with a removable floor.

Which Features are Available for 2020?

There are eight trims of the Toyota 4Runner in 2020. The SR5 kicks off the lineup. It is nicely equipped for a base trim with eight savvy paint colors to choose from. The sound system features eight speakers around the cabin. The touchscreen display, which is intuitive and user-friendly, has a highly visible eight-inch screen. The base infotainment system supports Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are standard on this trim.

The SR5 also has projector headlights with custom trim. The SR5 Premium contains the Premium's amenities plus a backup camera, an enhanced sound system, navigation, and heated front seats. The exterior has the same wheels but heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The TRD Off-Road gets a locking rear differential for the trails.

Its exterior features bumpers with silver borders and a hood scoop. The TRD Off-Road also features external badges with the trim name. Four-wheel drive is standard on the TRD Off-Road. The TRD Off-Road Premium gets headrests accented with the trim's name. This trim also features a push-button ignition and smart key accessibility. Heated front seats are standard.

The Venture Special Edition gets a unique look from the ground up with black accents all around, a cargo roof basket, and gray alloy wheels. The Limited adds two-zone climate control and larger wheels. A sunroof comes standard, as do sonar-operated parking sensors. The infotainment system features enhanced navigation, and the sound system has 15 speakers. The Nightshade Edition is similar in exterior appearance to the Venture Special Edition, but it gets black interior accents as well. The TRD Pro has matte wheels and more off-road driving features.

Great Power and Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is 17 mpg in city driving and 20 mpg on the highway. It's paired with a five-speed shiftable transmission on all trims. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the base trim, while the others get four-wheel-drive.
