2020 Toyota Avalon

What's New For the 2020 Toyota Avalon?

In 2020, the Toyota Avalon expands to include a sporty new trim level. The Avalon was fully redesigned in 2019, which means that it does not get substantial changes for the latest model year. Nevertheless, it gets more of a performance edge this year with precise steering and handling and a sport-tuned suspension. The Avalon's new performance-oriented features add to its exceptional level of comfort, which includes plenty of interior space and many amenities. Supportive outboard seats and a quiet cabin, which is made possible by noise-dampening materials, are notable features of the 2020 Avalon that make all your road trips more relaxing and enjoyable. This year's Avalon is available in a regular gasoline version and a hybrid edition.

The Toyota Avalon Has Many Features Across Several Trims

This year's Avalon family has five trim levels. The base trim, which is called the XLE, comes with several notable amenities, including LED lights, keyless entry, a remote start, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and simulated leather for its seating material.

The Avalon's base-level technology includes a nine-inch infotainment display screen with Amazon Alexa support and Apple CarPlay. The base model also has an eight-speaker sound system and an abundance of driver-assist safety aids.

The Limited trim provides more features including comfortable leather upholstery, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated seats in the back row, an integrated navigation system, a heated steering wheel, and a premium JBL sound system with 14 speakers.

The XSE trim upgrades to larger 19-inch wheels and black accents for a unique exterior appearance. It also has a sunroof and a spoiler in the rear. This trim's performance-oriented nature also includes a sport-tuned suspension and paddle shifters. Inside, its upholstery includes microsuede seat inserts.

The TRD, which is a new trim this year, builds on the XSE's performance edge with matte black wheels, a sporty exhaust, sportier suspension tuning, and red seat belts with red accent stitching.

The Touring, which is the top trim level, includes all of its predecessors' features plus an adaptive suspension system and active noise cancellation for an even quieter ride. You can get some optional features to complete your Avalon as well, including an Advanced Safety package with more driver-assist amenities.

How Well Does the 2020 Avalon Perform?

All trim levels of the regular Toyota Avalon have the same engine in 2020. They are powered by a 3.5L engine with six cylinders. This reliable engine produces just over 300 HP and 267 LB-FT of torque. A front-wheel drive powertrain comes standard, too. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission on all models as well. There is a separate hybrid version of the Avalon that combines a gasoline-powered engine with an electric motor for optimal efficiency and performance.

Packed With Safety Features

As you'd expect from a Toyota, the 2020 Avalon excels in the area of safety. The safety amenities you get vary by trim level. Even the base trim comes equipped with a generous array of advanced driver safety aids, which are offered through the Safety Sense package that gets pre-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and rear sensors with sonar-operated parking assistance. Overall, the Avalon gets a five-star safety crash test rating.
