What's New For the 2021 Toyota Prius?

The 2021 Toyota Prius gets a number of improvements this year. It offers more technology, including the addition of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa as standard features. There is still a base infotainment system with a seven-inch display screen, but you can get a larger 11.6-inch display screen on select trims as well. This year's Prius is also more performance-oriented with the availability of all-wheel drive as a powertrain on select trims. The 2021 model year brings the addition of a new 2020 Edition Prius to the lineup as well.

2021 Prius Trims and Features

The five Toyota Prius trims differ slightly in their interior and exterior amenities. The base trim, which is the L Eco, rides on 15-inch wheels. LED lights are included at the base trim level, and the headlights are automatic for convenience and optimal safety. The LE is the second trim in the lineup. Its interior adds more safety technology, includes front and rear parking sensors and a windshield wiper for the back windshield. The XLE is a more luxurious Prius with 17-inch wheels that have a unique five-spoke design. Titanium wheel inserts give the wheels a stunning look. Heated seats are added to the interior, which gets an upgrade with SofTex leather seats. The new 2020 Edition has the same wheel design, but its wheels are black rather than alloy. Its headlights are surrounded in blacked-out accents. Adaptive front lighting is included on the Limited trim, which also has auto-leveling headlights. A JBL sound system is standard.

All 2021 Toyota Prius trims are equipped with the same mechanical system, a 1.8-liter gasoline engine combined with a separate electric motor. The motor and engine produce up to 121 HP on all trims. Front-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain on all trims. However, the LE and XLE trims are available with all-wheel drive (AWD-e). The 2021 Toyota Prius models are also mated to a standard continuously variable automatic transmission across the board.

Toyota Prius Safety

Advanced airbags are the first of many safety features in the 2021 Prius.
