What's New For the 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

The Toyota 4Runner was originally released to the U.S. automobile market in 1984. It was a new version of the Toyota Hilux, and we're currently in the fifth generation of the 4Runner. The 2022 version includes a TRD Sport trim level, which is originally part of the Tacoma lineup. It comes with 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, adaptive dampers, faux leather interior, and Sport badges.

2022 Toyota 4Runner Trims & Features

The base model of the 2022 Toyota 4Runner is the SR5. There are seven other trim levels to choose from, working your way up to the TRD Sport, Trail Special Edition, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro. There's likely going to be a slight increase in price between each trim level, and we recommend that you start with the TRD Off-Road trim level. Based on where you do the majority of your driving, you'll be able to determine if you need features like four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, and selectable drive modes. You can upgrade your 4Runner model to include Kinetic Dynamic Suspension on the higher trim levels, which provides better control and traction when you're off the beaten path. It also comes with a sliding rear cargo deck and tailgate seating.

2022 Toyota 4Runner Horsepower

All of the 4Runner trim levels for 2022 come with a 4.0-liter V6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission. It can achieve 270 horsepower. Higher trim levels provide better ground clearance and a more refined suspension that is perfect for a variety of terrains. If you're looking for adequate towing capacity, you'll be happy with a 5000-pound limit.
